Some Parents Ask, “But is it a Real Career?”
Valid question. And ultimately the answer is up to the graduate. Do you consider owning your own business a real career? How about managing scores of people all committed to making sure every guest goes home so happy, they can't wait to come back? Or working in exotic locales that people could actually visit based on your reputation alone?
Okay, that's the feel good answer. What about titles and career paths? Our Culinary and Pastry graduates pursue positions as assistant chefs and assistant pastry chefs at prestigious restaurants and bakeshops as they begin a career path toward chef, sous chef, head chef, and pastry chef. With the networking and work ethic we instill, many aspire to and achieve the position of executive chef where they may be responsible for the menu and financial welfare of any organization from multi-million dollar corporations to world-renown 5-star restaurants.
As for our Hospitality graduates, this program is designed to develop the knowledge and skills to begin a career path toward management in the hospitality and food service industry. Our graduates are prepared for a career path ranging from Human Resources and Assistant Reservation Sales Manager to Front Office Manager and General Manager of nationally known hotels, restaurants and resorts.
So is it a real career? Only if that's what you consider being emotionally fulfilled and financially rewarded.
