Volunteer and Competition Opportunities

Whether you want to show your stuff or show how much you care, we have a variety of opportunities for you throughout the year. Ask how you can enter and for more specific information on dates and locations at the front desk.

February:
Chili Cook-Off Competition - Open to all students. Awards for first, second and third place as well as The People's Choice. Student is responsible for providing ingredients and materials for cooking. Admission for the public is $5.

March:
March Madness / Iron Chef Competition - Open to all students. Each team must have a combination of 3-5 pastry and culinary students. $50-75 to participate. You may use school ingredients. Competition takes place every Friday for five weeks.

July:
Rib Cook-Off Competition - Open to all students. The school provides the ribs. $10-15 to participate. Awards for first, second and third place as well as The People's Choice. Admission for the public is $10.

August/September:
Clash of the Tailgaters - Fundraiser for Gleanor's Food Bank. Open to all students. $30 to participate, 2 students per team. Competition for best tailgating dish, and an award for the People's Choice. Must bring your own ingredients and cooking supplies (including grill). Event takes place in The Chef's Academy parking lot. Admission for the public is $5.

September:
MCCOY - fundraiser for Marion County Commission on Youth. Volunteer opportunities open to all students who would like to prepare, serve, and plate food.

October:
Pumpkin Carving Contest - A free event where students receive a pumpkin, take it home, carve it, bring it back, and are judged based on creativity, skill and uniqueness. Awards for first, second and third place as well as The People's Choice.

November:
Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Dinner - There are volunteer opportunities for food preparation and food service throughout the day.

December:
Christmas Cookie Contest - Open to all students, $10-15 to enter. School provides ingredients. Awards for first, second and third place as well as The People's Choice.
